Last year we asked you to salute your heroes, and your response was amazing! We received numerous salutes to heroes both active duty and retired, and from all branches of our armed forces. This year, we want to hear your salute stories. We want to give you more opportunities to honor those who serve, as well as share with us how you make your salute special, why the salute is important to you, or what being an American means to you and your family. Enter your salute on our Share your Salute page and, after review, it could be selected to be published on our website. Catch the wave of patriotism and Share your Salute with us!

Flyover Schedule
The 6th Annual Salute from the Shore will begin, as always, at 1:00 PM on July 4th in Cherry Grove, SC, just north of Myrtle Beach.
A flight of two F-16s from the 20th Fighter Wing based at Shaw Air Force Base will begin the flyover promptly at 1:00 PM and cover the entire coast, circling Patriot’s Point in Charleston before concluding their run south of Hilton Head. We are honored to have these professionals from Shaw supporting us again this year!
Due to the large number of vintage military aircraft involved and their different flight speeds, the planes will be grouped according to speed and will follow the F-16s. This will give everyone on the beaches a longer experience! The slower planes will start first and will be visible over Cherry Grove quickly. There will be other flights of planes that will be visible at different times at different points along the coast…but all should be visible between 1:00 and 2:00 PM on the Fourth of July.
Planes and Pilots

We are excited to announce our lineup of 11 vintage planes for the 2014 Salute from the Shore! The planes and pilots will once again be led by Barry Avent, flying his C-47 Bones. Barry will be joined by the additional patriotic pilots and planes below. Check our 2014 Flight Schedule for approximate times of the flyover at different locations along the South Carolina coast. Don’t forget to post or tweet live using the hashtag #salute5 to keep others down the beach updated with the planes’ progress.

2014 Flight Schedule
The 5th Annual Salute from the Shore will begin, as always, at 1:00 PM in Cherry Grove, SC. Due to the large number of vintage military aircraft involved and their different flight speeds, we’ve decided to group them according to speed. This will give everyone on the beaches a longer experience! The slower planes will start first and will be visible over Cherry Grove immediately. There will be two more flights of planes that will chase and overtake the slower aircraft at different points along the coast.
We hope you enjoy this new feature, and we certainly hope it will allow even more people to experience this special tribute to our nation’s military. Please share the schedule with friends and family who will be on the South Carolina coast this July 4th!
